This ONE DAY route we begin from Sarajevo. Get on the train to place Visoko.
From there we got 50 km to Prokoško lake.

Prokoško lake became one of the favorite tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina
mainly because it is relatively untouched by the modern way of living.
Absence of electrical energy in the village affect way of local villagers life and 18 kilometers long unpaved and hard to pass road from Fojnica keep the things as it was long time before. This is one of the few remaining ecological pearls of Bosnia and Herzegovina located on the altitude of 1636 meters above sea level. The village is created mainly for the purpose of summer sheepherding on the slopes of Vranica mountain. It is abandoned during the winter when sheepherds go down to the Fojnica city and villages nearby.
Lake of calmness
Main event in the village is the Prokoško lake, 400 meters long and 160 wide, with the maximum depth of 16 meters. Cristal clear water has glacial origin and it is home to California trouts and endemic family of amphibians named Rajzer's triton. Located on the high altitude the lake is a nice shelter from the heat of the long summer days. It is suitable for swimming and camping.
Traditional Bosnian meal's
Visitors are most welcome. There is a possibility to rent a local cottage for a night and local traditional kitchen is available to you - most items are dairy and milk based products with different kinds of traditional Bosnian meal "pita". Preserving of the meat if difficult because of the absence of refrigerators but it is always possible to have some fresh and nice lamb prepared for you.
